Transgender Pakistanis: The Open Secret | Real Stories
Flamboyant, colourful and eccentric, many among Pakistan’s marginalised transgender community scrape a living through dancing, singing and begging on the streets of the country’s economic capital, Karachi. Many others, though, earn money catering for the sexual needs of local men in the city’s seedier districts.
Investigating a never-before-seen side of life in Pakistan, this film from Oscar and EMMY award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy follows the stories of three transgender people, who each represent a different way of life in the country. Maggie is a prostitute who dreams of becoming an air hostess, while Chahat was abandoned by her middle-class family to beg on the streets. Sana is Karachi’s most sought-after transgender dancer, desperate to give up the profession after a particularly gruesome gang rape. Is there any hope for these courageous individuals who want to stand out on their own?
With exclusive access, this cutting-edge film goes behind the scenes of the transgender community to uncover the truth behind Pakistan’s Open Secret.

culture and religion do indeed affect the behavior of individuals towards transgender individuals. They shape societal norms, legal protections, family acceptance, and access to resources, all of which impact the lived experiences and opportunities available to transgender individuals. Addressing stigma and discrimination often requires engaging with cultural and religious leaders, promoting inclusive interpretations of religious texts, and advocating for legal protections that uphold the rights of transgender individuals.
Ri di cu lous😂😂😂😂😂
I'm just so confused, if Sana was raped, and they say it's punishable by life imprisonment, if she reported it, couldn't they have been arrested?

the question "do you have teenagers" made me sick..
you guys know nothing about these people. Bangladesh and India also have something similar to this phenomenon. These people are absolutely horrendous. They go to houses were weddings recently occured and shamelessly strip infront of everyone buck naked, doesn't matter even if children are there then try to extort money. They don't leave until an appropriate amount has been given as the people don't want such indecency and degenerecy infornt of their house and families. They also kidnap young boys and forcefully castrate them to make him one of them. We call these people "hijrahs" in Bangladesh. They go around on the street persistently asking for money. Youngs boys especially have to be wary of them as they like them the most. They have huge gangs and underground illegal and criminal syndicates. Don't just blindly belive the sob stories they show you in this video. The is a whole nother reality behind their crorcodile tears.

Chahat is a handsome young man. I feel sorry for him. If he could be taken away, he might have a life.
