On today’s Daily Debrief, Republicans in the House Homeland Security Committee voted to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, setting up for a full House vote later in the week. A new poll found that a majority of voters (53 percent) in seven battleground states said that they wouldn’t vote for Donald Trump if he is found guilty of a crime. Moderate Republicans wanted to send a message to Speaker Johnson on the so-called SALT tax; they don’t like the Trump-era $10,000 cap on the tax, saying it disproportionately hurts them. A judge threw out Elon Musk’s $56 billion compensation set in 2018. Top tech CEOs will testify before a Senate committee on child online safety on their platforms.
