This video – exclusively on Real World Police – is the third in a series of four from this unusual incident. Taken together, the videos paint a comprehensive picture of the events leading up to and including the arrest of Grammy Award winning rapper T.I. on May 16, 2018 at the entrance to his gated community in McDonough, Georgia.

The first two videos used surveillance system video footage to tell the story; this video and the next utilize police body-worn camera video.

The following incident narrative is primarily sourced from the police report. There are some areas where the reported narrative diverges from what appears to take place in the recording:

On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at approximately 0443 hours, Henry County Police Department officers were dispatched to the Eagles Landing Country Club located at 100 Eagles Landing Way in McDonough, Georgia, in reference to a male subject later identified as Clifford Harris (“T.I.”) yelling at the security guard because he would not let him in the gate. Dispatch advised responding officers that they could hear Mr. Harris yelling through the phone.

On arrival officers met with Mr. Harris and with his friend, Marquinarius Holmes. When asked what was the problem, Mr. Harris stated that when he pulled up to the guard shack, he observed the guard – Euwan James – sleeping. When Mr. Harris woke him, he asked to be let into the gate, but the guard refused to let him in. Mr. Harris stated that James finally opened the gate to let him in, but added that he had asked the security guard for his name multiple times and asked for his supervisor but that the guard refused to provide that information to him. Mr. Harris then drove home – a bit over a half mile – only to walk back for another attempt at getting the guard’s name. No dice the second time around, either.

When that same officer spoke with the guard (who is referred to in the report as “Officer James”), James is *reported by the officer* as having provided the following information:

When Harris pulled up James asked Harris for his name and where was he going. Harris replied, “Harris, hook me up!”* James did not recognize Harris and did not let him in the gate. In response, stated James, Harris started to use profanity, yelling at him to open the gate. James then opened the gate and let him inside the neighborhood. James further stated that Harris subsequently walked back to the gate and was threatening him, and added that Mr. Holmes had arrived after Mr. Harris.

When asked for specifics of the kind of threats Harris had made, James is reported as having stated that Harris asked him to “come outside so they can deal with it,” however James wrote on his statement that Harris stated “come outside so we can deal with this man to man,” and “Let go in the street.” (It’s not clear that Harris said any either of those two sentences.) James stated he felt threatened by Harris because he told him that he would come back and he did. James added that he did not know what Harris was going to do. James’ supervisor Andrea Stone advised she witnessed Harris yelling at James.

*The recording seems to indicate that he said, “Harris, look me up,” — and not “Harris, hook me up.”

One small thing to note in this video: At :38, right after Tip repeats “He don’t have to?” — pay close attention to the female manager’s facial expression. What you’re looking for only lasts for .03 seconds but it’s there.

  2. $326.. Man, look at that, the Cop steals $20 from the guy on camera! 7:10 look! The Cop gets an additional $26 dollars from the guy after he counted $300. Then, the guy hands him $26, and he counts it and says, “ three hundred and….six dollars!” Damn!

  14. OMG makes me angry …. We All would have been upset in his place. He didnt cross the line but him wanting to while his family are in their home(his home)beyond the gate and sleeping beauty worn let him in AFTER address and name are given. It would infuriate ANYONE. Total bullshit 4real

  16. His drivers license should show his address. I would also think the guard should have a list of who lives there. That's how my gated community works. Plus, come on, you know who TI is, I would think you also know he lives there. Guard and cops just acted like a bunch of haters. Doing the most. 🙄

  29. I agree with T. I. about giving up the name. It doesn’t make sense. That guard is messy, started unnecessary drama. Unprofessional and disrespectful for talking to Tiny on the phone like that. Plus TI. It doesn’t matter about their celebrity status, the guard shouldn’t talk to anyone like that. The fact that he called the police like a little bi**h shows how scary he is. But was acting all hard at first. I’m a guard myself and if you get caught sleeping on the job, that is an automatic termination. I hope the supervisor let him go. I’m against people loosing their jobs, but he brought it on his self. I can’t stand people like him. Feel superior to every body but scary as hell after starting mess.

  42. Let's not miss the big lessons here folks. There are some black people who are contributing to the racial bias against black people. 1) TI goes ghetto – that never helps matters 2) The guard who turned on his brother man, even when embarrassed and then rightfully offended by TI's ghetto rant, the guard should have never called the police. 3) The supervisor – worst of all. She had the maturity, and intelligence to be at the level of supervisor and de-escalate the situation. She should have recognized the situation started with the guard failing to let him into the property after TI was identified and verified by the household. In fact, the video shows the guard disregarded the fact that TI was verified. So, really the guard was protesting TI and refusing him entry to his own property. There's no excuse. This is totally the guard's fault

  43. When are the cops going to stop operating like a runaway slave patrol? This is so bad. I was thinking Tiny should come down and help him get out of this shit. But, then I thought they'd probably make up a reason to arrest her too. Remember, they live there and he was innocent. The guard should have let him in at 3:30 into the first video. At 4:00 TI started cussing, which he should start to learn doesn't work in grown up life. But, even with the cussing, he wasn't stating any threats. Regardless, the arresting cop is caught on audio stating his disregard for rappers, the arrest, with no evidence or probable cause, followed his biased remarks.

  46. The guard should definitely be fired. And why is Ti getting arrested, it is not illegal to be drunk and the cop didn't see him driving. He could have took a drink at the house, and then wàlked back up there.
