Last year Florida voters approved a ballot measure called Amendment 4 which restored voting rights of an estimated 1.5 million former felons. To counteract this amendment 4, Republicans proposed a bill that would require former felons to pay court costs and fines before they are able to vote – what activists are calling a poll tax.

Would one view this as a good reason NOT to become a convicted felon. You had no respect for life and property before you did the deed. You violated others rights and now you want YOUR rights? I'll leave it there for you to counter.
Desantis is a dirty dog
Let my people vote in their slave master it is their right LMAO
I'm not sure but think it may possibly justifiably depend on what crimes people are convicted of or for. I wouldn't care to see rapists, murderers, child abusers, violent spousal abusers, f.e., regaining a right to vote. The electoral system already is badly screwed up, badly, very badly. For people convicted on minor "offenses", non-violent, then I say "go full trottle" with getting their voting rights restored, but don't ask me to support restoring the rights for very violent, sick, insane, psychopathic, … individuals, for I'd never be supportive of this. Politics already is very bad and we surely don't need to risk making it only worse. I think only non-violent offenders, if you want to call them offenders, which I don't really like calling them, should be freely granted their right to vote. Just don't ask me to do the same with respect to violent, esp. very violent, offenders. A lot of these people probably would've voted for Obama when he first ran for becoming US President, but like a heck of a lot of voters did, the obvious fact that he couldn't and shouldn't be trusted would be often ignored. The same would've probably happened with respect to Bill Clinton. Both were highly corrupt. Both are war criminals and also guilty of other severe crimes against humanity. Voters are downright morons, irresponsible, …, very careless idiots. Deny me my right to vote and it won't make much of a difference. I might fight against that, but, really, only out of formality; for the whole damn political system is badly screwed up. Voters don't properly vet their candidates, so it's then irresponsible to vote for any of these types. People, voters, have charlatans speaking to them, promising this, that and the other things, and they speak as charlatans would, for they always try to charm people into becoming suckers yet again. Go cast a ballot and X off multiple candidates. Sure, it'll "spoil" the ballot, but it'ld at least show that you made an effort by going to the voting stations. By doing this a person, voter, illustrates serious dissatisfaction, disapproval. And, of course, if you approve of one of the candidates, then only check-mark that one so that the ballot isn't "spoiled". Non-violent offenders, however, nonetheless should be allowed the right to vote. I might not like their choices of candidates, but they should still be allowed the right to vote. Why they'd need to pay fines is "byond me", not understanding why they'ld be required to do that. Serious offenders are another matter. I won't treat both as equal, say. I think it's justified to apply some nuance in this. There're plenty of users, viewers, listeners posting comments in this video's comment thread and they, too many, evidently don't know how to differentiate between violent and non-violent crimes, not even psychopathic crimes. Some convicted people aren't guilty of any morally real crimes and of course they should be promptly released, with their records cleaned, plus their normal citizen rights restored WITHOUT any fines at all. But, there're some criminals who, imo, shouldn't be granted this treatment. Some are blatant, flagrant psychopaths, and I think some of them, if not many, should never be released at all, much less getting voting rights.
Former felons who want to live a clean life have the potential to become some of the best citizens because they see through the corruption, generally being less naive and more discerning than your average citizen.
America is a two sided Prison. There are those Seasoned Elite Criminals that Walk Free with a right to Vote and others of lesser standing who are in Prison for minor infringements of the Law with the Voting Right being denied.
Seems that requiring people to have lots of money to vote should be pretty hard to argue.
Baloney if felons could vote they would vote just like the democratic scum and we would live in prisons due to lack of police protection.
And yet convicted felons are elected to Congress, and are allowed to vote in Congress.
Of course it's republicans, because why wouldn't it be?
The prison industrial complex is powerful in Florida. There is no justice while there is a profit motive for keeping prisons overpopulated.
It should be plain to all that the people running Florida are patently against anything even remotely democratic. Florida's government is populated with people who are authoritarian, fake Christians, war mongers, pro Elite, and think nothing of rigging everything in their favor. In Florida, we have more registered Democrats than Republicans, however, it is the Republicans who always seem to win in significant numbers. Former governor Rick Scott was embroiled in a 1.7 Billion dollar Medicare scam, together with Republican Bill Frist, Sr., of Tennessee. The only reason Scott wasn't indicted is because his attorney cut a deal with the feds that if he returned all of the money, which he had off-shored, that he, Scott, would not have any charges filed against him. Somehow, in full knowledge of this reprehensible background, Rick Scott not only became governor once, but twice, and later he took over the seat of long time Democratic incumbent, Bill Nelson. Also, when Jeb Bush was governor, we had him calling the 2000, election in favor off his brother with his cousin John Ellis. And later Jeb Bush gave a pass to Katherine Harris, then Sec. of State, hiding ballots in a locked closet in her office which later showed that swing state Florida had gone Democrat. We also have the ongoing saga of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and her corruption vis-a-vis Tim Canova. And if all of this isn't enough, the DNC has sold out to private special interests such that both Left and Right operate for the greater good of the Establishment, and not We, the People. It is going to be an uphill battle all the way, but it is imperative that Florida's whole system be overhauled. I don't think this can be accomplished in any short-field way because Florida's educative system has been infected, and also the churches here are complicit.
It cannot hurt. Since the system has ' 'electoral college' in place, the public vote doesn't mean a thing. Luke 4:5,6 The Only remedy, is to allow humanity to destroy itself helped along by Lucifer satan Isaiah 24:5 /2Cor.11:13-15/James 5:1-4; and once the lesson is learned; during "church/state-police state" – Rev.13:16-18 > 666, and removed by the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24:20-22. God will save the World through Jesus his Son Matthew 25:31-40 bringing in life, happiness, peace, etc. without using popes, presidents, militaries, voting, etc. God bless everyone 😊
Republicans always go against the will of the people. They don't care what the people want. They only care about keeping power and the less people vote then it's easier for Republicans to win. It's like abortion. 70% of people are pro choice yet republicans are excercising the will of 30% of people.
So they are against democracy?
Racism is the reason for this right wing backlash against Citizens rights to vote, let’s be clear!! This is a pole tax totally illegal!!!! They’re telling you that voting is very important politics is how white supremacy works against the Black folk
Alexa play "BLACK" by BiggaThreat featuring moss point luck ✊ðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿âœŠðŸ¿
I never understood why you lose your right to vote. there's only one conclusion the disenfranchisement of everyone who's experienced the corrupt for-profit judicial system. People who've been through the system know exactly which sheriff's DA's and judges need to be removed. And they sure don't want us able to vote.
Pure shite. Fix this election system, it's a big fraud and the evidence is overwhelming! Happy Mother's Day, Mums!
😂🤣THIS IS JEWMERIKA VOTING HERE IS A TOTAL SCAM
What is the basis for depriving people of their voting rights?
Being a felon does not make you an illegal American, that's insane. also, where is the conservative christian values of forgiveness!?
