This video covers the entire process of replacing the rear struts on a 2004-2008 Acura TL. This procedure is also very similar to the 2003-2008 Honda Accord.
This is Episode 2 in the Acura TL Series.

If you don’t have a decent spring compressor, I recommend using complete strut assemblies, or, after you remove the struts from your vehicle, take them to a shop to have them swap the struts over for you. Coil springs can be very dangerous if not handled properly.

I have a 08 Rl, does anyone know if this around the same procedure? Thank you
Hey Eric, about to do my rear struts on my 08 tls. Should I get an alignment right away or is it best to drive on them for a couple days to let them settle and adjust on the vehicle?
This video help me alot the only thing it was the where is the nut at the bottom is easier if you remove the bolt next y
to the nut that is weld it you can remove it and is easier to put the strut back
This was immensely helpful, thanks. That f'in sway bar link still appears in my nightmares sometimes…
How much would someone charge me for replacing the front and rear struts??? Am located in Southern Cali.. Torrance California area to be exact
Eric my question is kyb a good replacement I understand that they are are Japanese products
A few ugga duggas will be just as good as a torque wrench🤣
Thanks for sharing
Thanks again Eric! for years your Honda wisdom has hlepd me out.
thank you
Wow Eric you're so old I didn't recognize you. Lol
Thank you bro.
Hey for the back seat you don't need to take those screws out on the back part just losen the screws then lift the seat up then slide seat over screws..
1:10 I hope the customer's passengers never wear white while sitting back there.
Also fresh gloves when working in the cabin and test drives, my man! They cost only pennies.
Thank you ðŸ™ðŸ¾ Eric,I was about to tow this seat out.😂😂😂!I appreciate your help my brother.
I'll tell you Eric, that in my research to get good parts at a reasonable price. Have found out that KYB, is the manufacturer of Toyota and Honda struts.
Such a good resource, swapped out a rear shock this afternoon. I had to cut off my endlink though as the allen keys stripped out so that was fun.
If it wasn't for this video I never would have done my rear struts . Awesome video dude !
ERIC! I just had to reinstall my rear seats. You made SEVERAL terrific ideas. Saving me time and headache! THANK YOU
This video convinced me to let someone else do it. The spring compressor things- dangerous!
I have a 2010 TSX and I'm looking ahead to change all my struts soon. I replaced my rear arms about the same time i bought the car at 104k. I replaced front arms, drive shaft, bearings, but the only thing i didn't replace were my stabilizer links. . I don't have any power tools so yeah I only using hand tools which really makes things very slow. Looking at this video I really need a hydraulic car lift lol. My 4plex has the room. I bet I could totally make some money haja
Thank you. It was so helpful.
definitely boosted my confidence to do it on my acura but it's a gen b4 or 2 before this TL, but honda don't change much
Why does the rear wheel arch look like a bull dog attacked it? lol
What’s the part number for the complete rear strut assembly from Honda?
In the Acura service manual, they have the rubber bushings opposite of what you show in the video. The rubbers are pyramid shaped, and when installed they should form a football shape. The way it look like you installed them is more hour glass shaped.
It seems intuitive to do it the hour glass way like you did, the mount plate looks like they should go in the hour glass way, but the manual calls for the opposite. Doing it the hour glass way causes the rubber to flair out as you tighten the top nut, deforming it, causing accelerated wear.
Nice video- super instruction. Thanks.
That hidden fastener on the headrest bouta make me act up
Is this pretty much the same on a 2003 model?
Eric- So glad you did this video. Great help. Concise and professional.
3:12 lol
not too sure if anyone else said this but when doing your sway bar end links ,, take you angle grinder with a wire wheel and clean the thread first!! makes a world of difference for the 2 min extra it takes
Dang. The coupe is so much easier to work on😳
Eric, if the differential on my 2000 Acura RL 3.5 has no oil in the differential, would it cause the car to drive about a foot at a time then slams and stuck each time i tried to move, and if i should put oil in would it be ok again to drive? Thank you.
If anyone is out there and knows how I can buy original car parts from the manufacturer could you please let me know, appreciate any help
