Water pump replacement DIY. Learn how to replace a water pump at home using common hand tools. I was able to easily replace this water pump in under an hour and saved $783.
Replacing the water pump on many cars is not difficult and this is a perfect example of an easy to replace water pump. You could do this entire job without any special tools and I spent under $60 in parts which is unbelievable after getting the $843 quote from the Jaguar dealership. I will also do a video on a more difficult water pump so you can see what is involved in that as well.
Thanks PEAK for the coolant product placement in this video!

The Dream Car video is coming but because it is a very special video for me, I want to make sure it is amazing, so it is taking a little longer than I thought to film and edit (you will see why when it comes out). In the meantime, I filmed and edited this water pump video to bridge the gap. I actually edited this video during my 2 week long road trip where I had meet-ups for you guys in Cincinnati, Indy, and Chicago! As always thank you for the support and stay tuneeeeeed!
P.S. Here is a link to the first every DIY video I did on my channel to help people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTl6UNMKjLc
Of course, my water pump broke on the highway and I didn't have the tools but if I did this would be a great video and will definitely use this before it breaks down again so I can avoid being stranded again
I love you. lol Once again, I have hope and am actually excited to go forward with this.
Chris never uses low strength thread lo ker or high streghnt thread locker, always medium
Wurter pump
I feel like there is nothing this guy can’t fix
Do you have to remove extra fluid after using that funnel? Seems like it would be too high or does it purge excess itself?
Why is this at the end of The Residents: Not Available playlist?
I did a water pump in my dads 2001 Silverado with him, coincidentally my 1999 Chevy Tahoes water pump started puking the week after that😂
Bravo bel lavoro, mi piacerebbe farlo sulla mia vecchia dacia sandero 1.4 mpi, ma la pompa è più giù non è agevole raggiungerla
What would a regular mechanic charge? Dealers are always way too much…
Chris fix rarely has new videos because he already fixed everything
It looks so easy on the Jaguar. It's a different game on a Toyota and Acura.
What about water pumps that are driven by the timing belt?
I have a 2009 Mercedes Benz s550. I just wondering if I can replace the water pump as simple like you did without draining the coolant. I wonder if any issues. Because my coolant is still looks new. Please give me an advise. Thank you
Where has this guy been all my life! Why am I just finding these videos??I feel dumb now! I've junked & sold off good vehicles because I was told by a mechanic that the repairs needed wld cost more than what the vehicle is worth…& the repairs needed were not large at all. Never again! I see that I'm late but Thanks, Chris Fix for all the great videos!
too bad my dodge neon has the wooder pump with the timing belt…
Omg you made this look so easy. My dealer ship is wanting to charge me 2600 to replace this.
Amazing 😎👌ðŸ¼
Didn't the timing go wrong when you removed the timing belt?
Just ran across video again that I saw a few years ago . I bet the dealership price would probably be over a thousand dollars today.
Is it just me or does chris talking sound like a car accelerating? If you hear closely you may even hear gears shifting.
Cris fix is a billder
Please do an oil pump. My trucks oil pump went out, and my mom has had it for 22 years.
Great 👠now do one of a VW GLI 😅
The wudder pump
Dads Jaguar ford taurus lol
How come the negative terminal has to be removed first?
Did it on my old civic this weekend along with the timing belt! Gotta say I was pretty nervous to start it back up but it didn’t explode so all good
Chris, love your enthusiasm! Thanks for teaching me something new.
New into the car tools, for tightening the screws. Do you tighten them all the way or is there like a recommended way to tighten? Is each screw different?
Leaking from my water pump so guess ima do it but ima also watch video on everything need for 2jz
Hey Chris, firstly i'm not questioning your job, since it's pretty well made, and second, is about the Portuguese subtitles for people here in Brasil, since here in Brasil there is not that many people who have some money to pay a English Course, have some certain difficulty reading some words… Like the word thread locker, they(But not them all) will understand it. Normally people will spell it like "Trava rosca" or some locker to Screws, but the rest is not that bad, again not questioning your job, cause besides donut, you're another popular guy on the car community. Just calling out a miss written word in the Portuguese subtitles.
soapy wooder 🙁
I know I've watched most of all your videos but I don't care. I love going back and watching them again because they are so satisfying, calm, and relaxing. You my good man are an amazing person!
Wonder if his dad is a mechanic
It's not a jag, it was made near Liverpool in a ex Ford factory still a good car easy to drive. The name jag was lost in history
If you daily drive a Jaguar, better have a kid who's a mechanic!
I had to stop my hand from trying to reach through my phone to try and pet your dog. lol
Also, I had a drain plug shear off and didn't have an OEM radiator. So I put steel stick in the drain plug to seal it. It stopped the leak, but my engine was still overheating. I did some trouble shooting and some googling. I narrowed it down to either my thermostat or my water pump. After watching your video on the thermostat, I pulled my thermostat and it wasn't bad, in fact it was almost new. (About 1 1/2 years old) So then I watched this video. I'm currently replacing my water pump.
I go to your channel for all of my car maintenance questions. A mechanic will tell you is a 3 hour job and needs a bunch of specialty tools. (fan clutch) In reality Joe Smoe (me) can do it with basic tools in 30-40 minutes. Your tutorials are the best. Keep it up.
W thanks man
I hope Chrisfix teach us how to replace timing belt and water pump on all asia model.
