Putnam County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Beth Nelson said Officer Ahscari Valencia of the Algood Police Department in Tennessee pulled Cook in Putnam County when the suspect fired. Nelson said Valencia was wearing a bulletproof vest, which saved his life. The incident occurred on October 24, 2015

Gregory said Kentucky troopers later found a vehicle near Burksville, Kentucky, matching the description in the Tennessee shooting and pulled it over. A man inside fired. The troopers weren’t injured. On Sunday, authorities say Cook pulled a gun on a teen in Burkesville, in southern Kentucky. According to the station, police say the teen was in his car with his girlfriend, pulling up to his father’s house when Cook came out of the woods, told him to stay in the car and pulled a gun on him.

The boy told the station he recognized Cook from media reports. Police reportedly cornered Cook on a nearby road and said they believed he was barricaded inside the teen’s father’s home. SWAT teams swarmed the home Monday after an hours-long standoff, but Cook wasn’t inside, reports the station. Floyd Ray Cook who was the target of a six-day manhunt after allegedly shooting a Tennessee cop was killed by police early Friday in what officials described as a “scary” conclusion.

Floyd Cook, 62, was fatally shot near Burkesville, Kentucky, after being traced to a wooded area with the help of a police helicopter’s thermal camera. Law enforcement agents converged on a building in the hunt for Cook, who was accused of shooting a Tennessee police officer during a traffic stop on Saturday.

  1. To everyone who is an ‘expert witness’, when you have a person pointing and shooting at you, your mind will tell you ‘hey, hide behind that tree/rock’. Problem is, that tree/rock is a baseball size rock and that tree, could be a stick in the ground. The barrel of a gun looks like you could drive a semi through. Fear does shit to people’s logical reactions and deadly threats! When I was a police officer, you can ‘predict’ someone’s actions, by their eyes.

  2. That's exactly what I'm talking…ran like a pussy but when a cop is with a whole gang of cops that when they think they hard when they not. Grow balls and man up without being a pussy

  3. “He’s coming after me”

Use that thing called a gun and light his ass up.

  4. Would have told the occupant of the vehicle to please turn his truck off first. Then told him this is routine nothing big just got some questions to ask you please follow my instructions can you please step out of the vehicle for me keep your hands where I can see them and we'll talk this over. If you do not get followed commands on turning the engine off you have a red flag still could come out with a gun in his pocket but have your gun have your door open and give your commands from your car with the door open for cover. You need to treat all probable cause stops damn near as felony stops to make sure you go home every night.

  5. Cop: Shots fired, shots fired.
    He is coming after me…
    Cop: keeps running scared.
Me: Pull your f***ing handgun and return fire!
    Me: 🤦🏻‍♂️

  6. Some people shouldn't be cops, or should train more often. Either you stand there behind his window pillar cheating your draw(hand on gun) and watch everything he's doing, or you stay behind cover near your patrol car cheating your draw as well. Standing out in the open, looking around when this guy isn't listening to any commands and digging around in the truck is a good way to get murdered. Then you decide to run 50+ yards away and have him follow you on a shooting spree, putting yourself and the public in danger. Get your dang gun out and return fire. He's so lucky.

  7. Ummmm…check your your right or left, a handgun must be holster on your duty belt. You’re a cop, remember? So also have a gun

  8. I don't understand..he could have lit that truck up when he was coming around the bush..shock must have got to him.

  9. I think I would at least have drawn my weapon and pointed it in the general direction of the truck.
