Drunk Driver’s Failed Getaway

#CrimeCamNow
On March 20, 2021, a Doraville police officer was on his usual patrol when he spotted a white Porsche SUV running a red light. Concerned about road safety, he activated his sirens and lights, signaling the SUV to stop. However, the SUV accelerated and managed to evade the officer temporarily.

A few moments later, another vigilant police officer spotted the SUV in a Home Depot parking lot. Once again, the SUV attempted to flee, but this time, additional police units swooped in to block its escape. The suspect behind the wheel was instructed to step out of the vehicle, but he vehemently claimed a case of mistaken identity.

The officers quickly realized that the driver was displaying signs of driving under the influence. It was evident that he needed to be detained. The suspect’s initial protestations escalated into loud, inappropriate name-calling, causing a scene.

In an effort to assess the level of impairment, the officer requested the suspect to undergo a breathalyzer test at the police station. To the surprise of no one, the suspect agreed. However, once inside the police station, his behavior became even more erratic, marked by loud outbursts and a refusal to cooperate with officers.

Ultimately, the suspect found himself facing multiple charges, including “Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer,” “DUI – Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol,” and “Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.” The ordeal ended with his transportation to the Dekalb County Jail.
