Man Arrested For DUI: ‘Now I Can’t Become a Flight Attendant!”

Many people are unaware that Canada denies entry to anyone with a DUI (or related alcohol offense) conviction unless they have received special permission to enter from the Canadian government. This is true for airline staff too, which means that any pilot or flight attendant with a DUI is unable to work on a Canadian route without jumping through hoops. It also means that airlines flying to Canada often view a DUI conviction as disqualifying.

According to Ilir Orana, a Montreal-based immigration lawyer, there are two ways to get official permission to enter Canada with a DUI; a Temporary Resident Permit can allow an individual to visit Canada for a limited amount of time, and “Criminal Rehabilitation” enables a person to overcome their criminal inadmissibility permanently. A Canada Temporary Resident Permit or TRP can be valid for multiple entries for up to three years, but is only a temporary solution. Canadian Rehabilitation is ideal since it never expires, but it takes much longer to obtain than a TRP and requires a person to have completed all sentencing (including probation) at least five years prior.

Watch as a young employee of Alaska Airlines gets arrested for DUI… and promptly concludes that he has failed at life. Interestingly – and understandably – his arresting officer seems to be entirely unaware of Canadian law.

  1. The lack of awareness is hilarious, arrogance and entitlement are two of the ugliest human attributes. Ignorance is bliss.

  2. 2:45
Officer: “would you mind doing some tests to make sure your ok to drive?”

    Drunk dude: “im fine”

Officer: “would you mind if I did some tests just to make sure that’s the case?”

    Drunk dude “uhhhh…. im fine”

Officer: “ok unfortunately that’s not going to work”

Idk why but that cracked me up

  3. It was creepy as hell when he smiled and asked the cop “can you take me home”.

  4. That’s the spirit.. *ba dum tssss! You get it? Spirit like the airline, no? Okay…

  5. Hahah. He asked the officer for a ride home from jail. He is a child raised by a “full time mother.” Where the single ladies at? Hhahahahaha.

  6. I bet he,s stuck his head out of a car window and blown things before !!!😆

  7. This dude should have taken the time the officer was willing to give him. He was close enough to the limit to where dragging it out for an hour might have saved him.

  8. Well, he does have a point. He WAS at a work event and he is JUST UP THE ROAD …. That trumps potentially killing someone because you CHOOSE to drink and drive……. Doesn't it? By the same token Murder is probably also OK, as long as the person murdered really really deserved it…..

  9. I believe they don't deny admission to "anyone" with a DUI. They "may" refuse entry if they don't have special entry, but not everyone. And it is for recent DUI's…

  10. This guy is a whiny baby who can’t even remember his address. I would never want him as a flight attendant…..awww, he wants t call his Mommy…..poor baby.

  11. Other than the crime he committed, at least the guy didn't make a complete ass of himself. Example: "iM gOnNa SuE yOu!! YoU gOnA bE iN BiG tRoUbLe oSs-iF-fUrr!!"

  12. He should of thought about his consequences before getting in that car drunk. It could of been a lot worse, he could of killed someone or himself. It’s not the cops fault his Career is ruined. He decided to get behind that wheel.

  13. The officer was sincerely helpful and patient! No instigating, no escalating and everyone went home alive! Doesn’t get better than that!

  14. Refreshing to see a more modern breathalyzer, most I see on here look like they are from the era of pay phones and fax machines.

  15. As a LEO in Canada, if the officer suspected that the driver was impaired he should not have asked the driver to “pull forward 10 feet” as he was allowing him to continue the offense and in my training and experience in Canada – the impaired charge would be tossed out of court very fast due to the officer allowing the driver to continue to offense of suspected impaired driving by alcohol. Lawyers in Canada would have a field day with this and have it thrown out of court very easily. 🇨🇦

  16. Even if the person got a DUI 32 years ago??? Must not have been in effect in '92 because they let me in to repair and aircraft back then.
