On May 18, 2022, an alarming incident unfolded at Flowers Park in Doraville, Georgia, when a man brandished a knife and threatened a family. Doraville police swiftly responded to the scene to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
According to the suspect, he claimed to be peacefully sitting in the park when the family began screaming at him for no apparent reason. Furthermore, he alleged that the children directed inappropriate insults towards him. However, upon speaking with the family, a different account of the events emerged.
The family explained that their children had gone to enjoy the playground when they encountered the suspect, who appeared to be attempting to sleep. Unintentionally disturbing his rest, the children’s playful presence seemed to provoke the suspect’s anger. In a terrifying turn of events, he pulled out a pocket knife and threatened the family, prompting them to immediately contact the police.
Due to the fortunate proximity of the Doraville Police Department, officers swiftly arrived at the scene and took control of the situation. The suspect was apprehended without further incident, ensuring the safety of the family and park visitors.
The suspect now faces serious charges for his actions. He has been arrested and is being charged with simple assault and terroristic threats. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Dekalb County jail
