On April 20, 2022, the Chamblee police received a call from Von Maur store in Atlanta, Georgia, reporting a shoplifting incident involving a woman.
Responding quickly, an officer arrived at the scene to find a distressed woman with her small child inside the store’s loss prevention room.
Tears streaming down her face, the woman approached the officer and pleaded if there was any way to avoid going to jail.
Unfortunately, due to the value of the stolen items exceeding $400, the officers explained that they couldn’t take that route.
Understanding the challenging situation, the officers advised her to call someone who could pick up the child.
Fortunately, she was able to reach her sister, who agreed to come and take care of the child.
In a remarkable act of compassion, a female officer decided to go above and beyond. She volunteered to stay with the child until the sister arrived, ensuring the child’s well-being during this difficult time.

  1. my first baby sitter did this with me and her two kids, she taught me to steal.
Then she burnt down her apartment because she fell asleep smoking crack.
    kids were not home thankfully.

  2. I used to work as a loss prevention officer and it was common for women to place stolen items in their kid's strollers or even underneath the child.

  3. I love Von Maur. The are a one stop shop for everything quality. The employees are awesome too. I don’t live in Atlanta, but we have a couple where I live. I am surprised they even detained her. I’ve never seen my Von Maur store security detain anyone, but I sure have seen people stealing, and it makes me mad.

  4. Hate when parent bring their kids for their shenanigans. Not only does to teach the child to steal, its traumatic for kids to see their parents being arrested.

  5. Was she stealing children's clothes, food for her child or frivolous things. If for her child hope they go easy, but if just frivolous things, then shame on her.

  6. So many parents are using pushchairs as a tool to shoplift. I know what she did was wrong but leaving her child screaming for her must have been like a dagger through the heart.

  7. Hopefully this will be so embarrassing for her that she’ll never repeat this again. The boy will be fine once mommy’s back in a couple of hours.
