New York City, New York — On October 16, 2022, NYPD officers on patrol near Nagle Avenue and Dyckman Street in Inwood observed 29-year-old Joel Capellanl, holding a gun and directed him to drop it. Capellan failed to comply, and the officers fired their weapons. Capellan was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The NYPD recovered a gun at the scene.

  2. That's not good, white shirt may have been getting mugged (not true in this case). Can't just roll up and start shooting purely because he pulled a gun.

  9. I would like to know how many times he was actually shot. Sounded like 3 or 4 guns ( minimum) and like everyone shooting dumped all the ammo and were ready to continue shooting, reload and shoot some more except someone started yelling cease fire. I wonder if cops are TRULY held to the same standards as cevillians when " shooting reviews" are done ?
    If a cevillian does not STOP SHOOTING IMMEDIATLY UPON STOPPING THE THREAT…THAT PERSON CAN BE CHARGED WITH MURDER OR A DERIVITIVE OF THAT. ARE COPS HELD TO THAT SAME STANDARD ? OR DO THEY AUTOMATICALLY GET A PASS. .THAT THEY WERE JUST DOING THEIR JOB ?
    AGAIN, I AM CURIOUS HOW MANY TIMES THAT GUY GOT HIT. I KNOW THERE WERE A NUMBER OF MISSES AS WELL DUE TO PIECES OF THE GROUND FLYING WHILE SHOOTING WAS GOING ON.

    I usually side with law enforcement, but I'll never understand when I see the Police shooting a victim in an attempt to save them. I mean, the Police just did what they needed to prevent!
