Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – people can poke fun at it (I mean, it does have half naked dudes in a position called “north south” so it’s sort of a softball) is jokingly known as ground karate or pajama wrestling, etc.
Either way, it works. I appreciate the likes of Rener Gracie who continuously strives to support and encourage the law enforcement community to TRAIN! It works.
Thanks Rener! Check out more law enforcement related grappling stuff with their Gracie breakdowns: https://www.youtube.com/user/GracieBreakdown
Thanks guys!

Do you train in pajama wrestling? lol. BJJ just isn't for cops! It's for everyone!
I tried this and ended up George Floyding someone :v
I don’t think this would fly nowadays
Brazilian pjs for the win
Freaking great.
I've been doing Muay Thai since the age of 13 I'm currently 18 and started BJJ and MMA 2 and a half years ago I have competed regularly since how useful will this experience be as I'm looking to join the Toronto police department
Bad ass cop. Very professional.
Yeah, nah, just taser him 😂
This is BS. There were multiple cops around so it was safe for the cop to go all goon on a guy who was NOT fighting with the cops. I saw the guy arguing his case to the cop when the cop went all macho. Yeah, real tough. b n
PU-leeze. Most cops I see use the sumo technique of just lay on the perp . Cops get so obese, how do they get to stay on the force? They couldn't run 100 yards with a heart attack. So this idea that cops will train is silly.
Love it. Lol
guy was at a club…he was drunk…wouldnt be so easy with a trained fighter
Jujitsu is awesome for training. I also highly recommend it for ladies. Not only does it help for you having been taken down. But practicing it can help you get over feeling vulnerable when in certain positions and not think about how uncomfortable you are, but how to get out instead. I am saying this out of experience.
In fact one lady in our school had use a very basic move to escape her ex boyfriend who was stabbing her. Even the simplest moves can make a difference.
Nice work!
Damn did anybody else notice that chick in the video I did just saying
Can I get a FUCK DA POLICE
As someone who took Judo, which is derived from Jiu Jitsu, this just shows how practical such a style of martial arts is. I had an old HS classmate in my class, who is an officer actually, that I would practice and spar with from time to time. These takedowns and submissions hurt… a lot. You don't want to go hand to hand with a trained martial artist, even if he isn't high ranking. Most people don't know how to fight honestly. This guy had no chance.
BADASS!!!!!
Damn
Those where some badass moves I train BJJ and love to see it applied in a real world scenario the man isn’t being very combatant but the moves are still allowing for maximum control.
Great post mike.
Wow! Mike? If you had tee shirts with printings on them, stating:
"Mike the cop, endorses Brazilian Jujitsu!" Maybe even a thin blue line flag emblem as well, I'd wear one! Ya know? Sending an encouraging message out to all L.E.Os….? Humm. Maybe a poster with your picture on it? In uniform? Pointing an index finger at the camera, like the vintage "Uncle Sam" recruiting posters? "I want you to join Brazilian jujitsu". They could go inside the police station's briefing rooms? Ok. Just a crazy thought…😋
