On September 9, 2022 Chamblee police received a call about a suspicious male attempting to steal an Acer monitor from the electronics section at a Walmart in Chamblee, Georgia. Upon arrival, the officer and the loss prevention associate confronted the suspect, who dropped the stolen monitor and attempted to flee. However, their quick response prevented his escape, and he was quickly subdued. In a desperate attempt to deflect the accusations, the suspect loudly protested his innocence, claiming that he hadn’t taken anything from the store. Recognizing the need for additional support, the officer called for backup, and soon, several officers were on the scene to assist with the arrest. The suspect was promptly handcuffed and escorted to the store’s loss prevention room for further investigation. During the search, the officer made a startling discovery. Hidden among the suspect’s belongings were credit cards under different names, counterfeit checks, and illegal drugs. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, the suspect brazenly insisted that he had merely found these items on the floor and denied any ownership or involvement in illicit activities. Undeterred by his claims, the officer placed the suspect under arrest. He now faces an array of charges, including possession of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana, theft by shoplifting, forgery, possession of methamphetamine, obstruction, and financial transaction card theft.
