Los Angeles, California — On April 26, 2024, around 11:45 a.m., Northeast uniformed officers responded to the 100 Block of East Avenue 36 for a shooting investigation. When the officers arrived, they determined that the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old John Lopez, had shot a family member following a verbal dispute and was no longer at the scene. Shortly after a crime broadcast was initiated, an Air Unit located Lopez riding a bicycle south on the 5 Freeway. Northeast and Hollenbeck patrol units created a traffic break and followed Lopez as he traversed across multiple lanes.
Lopez eventually exited the freeway via the Mission Road off-ramp and continued riding in and out of traffic. After Lopez turned north on Daly Street, a Hollenbeck officer utilized his police vehicle to strike Lopez, which caused him to lose control of the bicycle and fall onto the roadway. He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. Lopez complained of pain to his knees and was treated at a local hospital before being booked for 664/187(a) PC, Attempt Murder. The victim of the shooting sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was held overnight at a local hospital for observation. No officers or other community members were injured during this incident. A small caliber firearm was recovered while officers took Lopez into custody.

The 911 operator needs some training. She over talks, she doesn't listen and her capacity of retention mentality is poorw. I think they need to do vetter selection about operators at 911 call center. People with poor quality shouldn't ve working there 😮

Emergency operators are the worst. Most of the time they have attitude. Or they'll ask you the same question, that you've answered every time, about five times. They can meet me at the hospital. I'm not paying that ambulance bill😂
