On May 31, 2022, an Austell police officer noticed an SUV with a deflated tire driving through the streets of Austell, Georgia.
Concerned for public safety, the officer began to follow the vehicle.
After activating his lights, the SUV slowed down but hit a mailbox before coming to a stop
The officer approached the driver, a woman who explained that her boyfriend had her driver’s license and was currently on the phone with her, and she stressed the urgency of needing to attend a court hearing later that day.
As the situation unfolded, the boyfriend’s mother intervened, revealing the woman’s troubled behavior. However, she asked the officers not to charge her related to the damaged mailbox.
She admitted to drinking vodka earlier and was asked to step out of the vehicle, but she called her boyfriend and requested his assistance.
Woman finally stepped out of the car and complied with field sobriety tests, which she failed.
Subsequently, she was arrested.
She was transported to Austell police department.
Her vehicle was impounded.
Search of the vehicle uncovered an almost empty bottle of Taaka vodka.
She was charged with DUI, open container while operating a vehicle, driving on roadways laned for traffic and her legal obligations for the day were left unfulfilled.
