When an officer uses blue and red lights and blocks a sidewalk path, you must be alert of the detention. The supreme court ruled that using lights makes a reasonable person believe they are not free to go. The light bars are equipped with variations and are now computer controlled. He could have used rear only. Even though he said no detention, he continued to press, I didn’t feel free to leave. especially when he keeps telling me to hang out.

The Port Orange Police detained me ultimately for holding the controller to my drone. There were a few others in the area and more coming to fly since an officer was involved in a shooting. I was there trying to get video with my phone of where they hid code enforcement vehicles after I made a complaint.

Code enforcement in Port Orange admittedly entered my back yard through a fence, took photos and on video admitted to going there. The city never disciplined the individuals for violating my rights of entering my property. This was a follow-up and to see how that same code officer was doing. She DENA JOSEPH has been caught entering peoples back yards even though it is a violation of 4th. The city does nothing to help better the community for its citizens. They continue to employ people who violate rights.

  12. Why not just say I'm not flying anything and cut all the crap? Now I am wondering why the officer hasn't asked where the drone is and not IDENTIFYING a crime in progress but he's detaining the man simply for nothing. So this cop thinks is OK to detain a citizen without any evidence of a crime. But if he had just said "I'M NOT FLYING MY DRONE" none of this would have happened. So the drone was in his had the whole time?

  13. They should Educate police on drone laws and rules. I run into lots of cops that don’t know the laws. Most of the police I have run into are willing to learn. Except few bad apples that think they know everything. Like that cop in you video. Fishing and thinks he knows it all.

  19. Sorry but stuff like this is just someone baiting for a confrontation. I understand that there is no crime taking place but at the same time you can't expect local officers to know all of the laws and statutes for items that they don't normally encounter. I too fly drones and understand that the lack of knowledge can be frustrating to those of us who are acutely aware of the law. Everyone should remember that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. It's baited confrontations such as this that cause ever more strict laws to get passed as it relates to the flying of drones for hobby purposes.

  30. more of a tax-paying dollars going to nothing that guy with a camera and he's using his is a drone thing as a battery charger for his phone but the cop never ask too many questions about it but yet he wanted to try to find any charges against them instead just asking them simple questions I don't understand the police today they just want money that's reason why we need to get civilian people inside the police department to watch these cops because they really don't know what you're doing
