Thats funny I've been in a couple county jails that were private and they sucked both held a lot of federal cases weather it be imgration or any federal cases the one in north dakota preferred because for state people they get 25 dollars a day for a federal person they get 85 dollars a day so you can see the difference and the war on drugs don't work we need a war on addiction

15. Everyone complains of private prisons but just wait until they are government prisons, you won’t be laughing then.

16. I can list several good reasons for private prisons:

    1. They are cheaper than public prisons

    2. They have more flexibility than private prisons and can adapt to the states needs in a short period of time.

    3. Most prisoners prefer private prisons.

    4. They don't rely on unionized guards (state dependant) so they can hire and fire people that more effectively.

    5. They are more effective than most state prison.

    6. A study in the UK showed some of their best prisons were privately run.

19. Here in the UK, you definitely DON'T want to go to a private prison. They're generally dirtier, much less funding for healthcare and education, and the food is worse, and generally as a result more violent compared to a HMP run prison

23. Either way prisons are funded by tax dollars.

    I see the biggest issue as prisons (private and funded directly by the govt) are incentivized to not rehabilitate folks…

    Private prisons because they’re making money off prisoners… and directly tax funded because they are protecting their empire (budgets for tax funded institutions never go down, they always go up – tax funded institutions are not efficient nor do they fail).

    So… unsure what the answer is.

24. 8:08 Thank you joe, thank you joe. It is exactly the case that prisons & jails in America want you locked up for their financial benefit. Moreover, It is most definitely not limited to privately owned prisons however this goes into the entire “criminal justice” system within America. County jails being owned and operated by the counties sharif department, county sharif department receiving funds on a per inmate basis makes it in their best financial interests to lock up everyone. And sadly old Joe (Biden) has signed this shill of an executive order not because it was the right thing to do but because it is American politics 101 – Play the race card.

35. The best video I've seen from you. Factually accurate and speaking to the core of the issue you bring up in every other video. You can't trust private prisons to be in the best interest of the inmates like you can't trust politicians to use prisons and prisoners as anything less than political fodder to be "tough on crime and protect the kids" and maintain their elite position.
