US Soldiers Shooting the Fantastic M119A3 & M777

US Army gunners carry out missions on the M119A3 and M777 howitzers.

• The M119 howitzer is the US designation for the L119 light gun, a lightweight British 105 mm howitzer also used by the United States Army. It can be easily airlifted by helicopter, or dropped by parachute. It does not need a recoil pit.

M119A3: modernized version with digital fire control system and an inertial navigation system for self location, entered service in April 2013 with A Battery 3/319th Field Artillery at Fort Bragg.

• The M777 howitzer is a towed 155 mm artillery piece. It succeeded the M198 howitzer in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army in 2005. The M777 is also used by the ground forces of Australia, Canada, India and Saudi Arabia.

The M777 is manufactured by BAE Systems’ Global Combat Systems division. Prime contract management is based in Barrow-in-Furness in the United Kingdom as well as manufacture and assembly of the titanium structures and associated recoil components. Final integration and testing of the weapon is undertaken at BAE’s facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

  5. love the last shoots, you can hear clearly the whistling sound of the shell flying away towards the objective

for those wondering, the Howitzer class cannons are set far from frontlines, like 30 or so miles away, since they can reach easily that distance towards an objective, if you see on a battlefield a emplacement of this cannons near frontlines, they're aiming deep inside enemy territories. more oftenly weapons and explosives caches, or military trucks, tanks or specially designated targets, which can hinder the enemy deployment towards frontlines

  6. There are a lot of dust it makes soldiers breathe dust into their lungs to get pneumonia , soldiers need to wear the faces masks to prevent dust and virus

  13. ill never forget the long months hanging out on the m777 in Afghanistan waiting for missions to come down. Or the months at a time shooting them in every weather condition imaginable (with or without wearing a gas mask for some reason) in training areas around the world. The worst and best times of my life and ill never forget them

  14. I never liked weapons at all.

The engineering on these things are perplexing. The mechanics and dynamics of mechanisms, calibration and design of these Howitzers seems to be a science on itself.
