Multnomah County Sheriff’s Detective Walter E. Graven, who was always convinced the case was a homicide and worked tirelessly to prove it.
Graven, however, faced real resistance from his superiors to bring his findings to light.
Used as a trail left behind after his 1988 death to guide future researchers, Graven’s personal documents provide a fascinating insight into the question of what happened to the Martins—a path leading to abduction and murder, an intimate family secret, and civic corruption going all the way to the Kennedys in Washington, DC.

This was interesting especially as the two girls were found nearby. one of the images on Jared sonar, at 6.46 looked like it had multiple window holes, as the car had been down for so long could the metal have crusted over looking like rock after all that time. I think a redive on that spot would be worth another look.

It's been such a long time that I doubt that anything is really left or anything identifiable anyway. I just looked at a documentary about this family and they suspect the son of killing his family. In fact the son had four children and never talked about his family to his children. He never talked about their disappearance and he didn't collect the ashes of his two sisters after they were cremated. The ashes sat on the shelf of the crematorium or funeral home for 10 years, unclaimed by their brother. He moved to Hawaii with his family and his kids just don't want to talk to the media because they don't want to know. I'm sure they've had a lifelong suspicion of their father but they don't want their memories of him to be ruined. And also he didn't attend the funerals for his two sisters. He said he got mixed up on the dates so he didn't attend. He's dead now. He was able to live his life, get married and produce a family and even live on a beautiful island. His sister's didn't get that chance to grow up and have families. I didn't read the book so I don't know what else there is to it but the son looks highly suspicious
