12. Navalny polled at 2 percent. Vladimir Putin won the election with 74 percent of the popular vote in every election he's faced and has an approval rating of 84 percent. The idea that Navalny was this great political rival to Putin is just ludicrous. Navalny was polling at 2 percent, it's the equivalent of Joe Biden taking Cenk Ugyur seriously.

19. Aaron is so steadfastly against the manipulative machine that runs the US, that he gets carried into dishonest opposite narratives. eg Yulia Navalnaya clearly said to the European parliament that Putin is a criminal for invading 'neighbor peaceful country' ie she did stand up for Ukraine.

    Navalny was originally Russian nationalist about Crimea (most people there are culturally Russians) but he did not advocate for illegally annexing it, and he was later persuaded to stand up for the full restoration of Ukraine to it's 1991 borders.

20. I've known many young Russians who supported the opposition, and few of them genuinely supported Navalny. His personality was as a provokateur and actively sought martyrdom, but he was never a great unifier of a movement.

    That said, Mate has the typical American leftist blinders on where he can only see things in relation to American policy. For him, Ukraine is just an American proxy war and Ukrainians should have accepted Russian imperialism a long time ago.
