US warships have been attacked repeatedly. So self defense seems a pretty silid claim. Also congressional approval is normally only sought for declaring war on a nation. It's not a factor in anti terror and anti piracy operations. Or at least it never was before.

The rebels INTENT doesn't matter, it's how it "lands", and because America is so big and strong and blah blah blah, missile fire can be ignored. Same with words. There is an amendment that gives the President the authority to protect shipping in particular. It came about during a time when piracy was a threat to American interest in the same area where the Huthies are attacking ships. That Amendment was launched all the way back in the 1800’s. The amendment authorizes the President to use military force to protect trade. And the Huthies are not only attacking Israel bound munitions. They are attacking oil tankers and all shipping within range as a response to Gaza.
Jessica and Lloyd Austin, two knuckleheads in their rationale. Jessica is just dumb because she’s young and never got the memo but Austin’s job was never in danger so he could’ve easily had someone pass the message along. Austin never travels anywhere solo so this was on him If anything went south, the whole country would have looked bad to the world.
