WATCH LIVE: IRS commissioner testifies before House Ways and Means

IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel is slated to testify in an annual hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee Thursday morning.

The IRS is treading carefully with the launch of a free online tax filing system as the agency and its ambitious project face intense political scrutiny.

Republicans have sought to claw back money the agency received over 10 years in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST.

  1. IRS is a complicated business itself. The US Treasury needs to be a tax entity collecting a simple flat tax. Look at the money they want just to collect taxes!
