Car is being prepped right now and will be fully painted over the next few days with a video to follow. Thanks to everyone for following, and thank you for Simplisafe for partnering with me throughout the Ferrari project: https://simplisafe.com/samcrac
blend…. you have to blend this….
That will not ever color match
What happened to the nice rims don’t like the current ones but obviously just an opinion.
Just because the paint is the same company, and maybe even the same colour name, doesn’t mean it’s going to match. Companies change formulas, and have various tolerances between batches. Anyone who paints Warhammer figures can attest to that!
Any one know why he paints 3/4 of the way across the hood, opposed to half way, or all the way across?
Serious question: isn’t the delivery driver responsible for the damage he caused when unloading your car? His company or their insurance doesn’t pay for damaging your Ferrari? Especially since you have the entire incident on HD video. It seems like an open and shut case. Your process and channel are all about saving every penny possible. This seems like a significant opportunity missed. Please explain. Thank you.
When you have a 20 year old car you can't just order the paint code and think it will match 20 year old faded paint. You have to take the car or panel to the paint shop and have them scan it for the right shade of paint! The other mistake your painter did was you never paint just the damaged panel! You have to paint it on the car and blend the surrounding panels into it.
Just found your channel and I am loving it! No matter what others say, your approach to this Ferrari is commendable and you understand what it is and what it isn’t. Best part of this video is the dark blue VW Phaeton in the background! Keep up the good work Sam!
FYI: To get a paint to match – one needs to ask the seller of the paint at what quantity of paint (to match original formula) needs to be ordered to get the exact paint formula as the original factory paint formula. Sometimes it can be 8 ounces – but only the color formula computer can determine that quantity. In small quantities some components of the paint are so small it is literally ZERO. But to match the original those elements cannot be excluded! I've had to order much more paint than required to get the exact color formulation/match to existing paint. Another excellent solution is to have the paint on the repaired auto scanned by a local
HI TECH paint seller with their high end color matching camera. This will also accommodate the change of the original color of the paint as the sun (UV rays) makes the original color change / fade. Also they can advise you again at what quantity needs to be mixed to match factory original formula.
Paint is finicky. If you somehow got the can of paint that was used to paint that car and it was still good it probably wouldn’t have matched do to the car fading and the paint sitting. Only a really good paint guy that mixes could match it spot on.
😂
I hate to tell you this but that it's a court container you're holding
Love watching youngsters (Zach) with mad automotive repair skills. Normally at his age they are still in their Mom and Dads basement playing video games all day. Sweet …….
17:10 Same brand yeah…..but without the years of UV/sunlight……
Yes Sam … All the comments below about paint fade in ultraviolet..the sun ! Why didn't u just get spectrometer matched custom paint mix??? It would then match perfectly 👌
Waiiit.. How did you get hologram scratches on the hood after it got painted.? 🤷â€â™‚ï¸
I was a spray painter for 20 years and no colour ever, ever matched straight off the scales. They need to be colour matched, even brand new cars. The formula gets you in the ballpark and you need to work it from there!!
BTW I've never seen a panel painted like that, you start from the fender edge, work to the middle, then work to the other edge!!
i like to give light spray to whole car, that fixes those problems
British racing green on a f360 is the rarest colour .. only 0.3% were made or something like that
I can see the dirt and sanding scratches in the paint. Must look horrendous up close.
Sick soarer dude
U bought a budget Ferrari, that’s why their projects
There are many different variants of that color , probably 3-5. You have to confirm with color chips before selecting the correct variant.
What’s everyone’s problem with panel bond
Is that a bug in the paint at 9:03 ?
lol, uses bondo on cardboard, facepalm 😐 and not blending panels, car probably needs a complete respray anyways to match, should have used a test piece to match. Tells me how much experience they have with painting, we all have learn somewhere though. Fun tagging along even during the parts like these.
Not trying to be that youtube expert or hater but it's highly recommended against mixing filler on cardboard. The cardboard can soak up a lot of the stuff not only in the filler but the hardener and makes for a really uneven and longer drying filler. Just figured I'd pass that info along.
Somecock sounds better then Samcrac !
