  1. The thing that puts me off with electric cars is the cost of replacing the battery. You have a 10 year old car. That battery is coming to an end!

  2. Model S is great cars. Battery faults in the dash, are often not the battery it self. Model S with AWD and your good to go. Bought my 75D back in 2017. Been electric ever since. After 25 years on the road with alot of great cars. Including 500whp VW VR6 Turbos 😅

  3. Its a deal , its a squeal, its the sale of the f@ckin century. Also a quote from a excellent British film . You done good with that one sam .

  4. How does a car hauler not know to press the button twice? Not only that, but human frustration always causes us to press a button multiple times when something doesn't work…then: 'oh that was it and it opens'. Duh! Proceed as usual Sam👍

  5. Used EV tax credit – you probably do not qualify. I suspect that your modified adjusted gross income is above the threshold. At least I hope it is.

  6. Good luck for your win but I would not be seen alive or dead in one of those things, for one thing it's still far to expensive for my budget . Great to see you doing your thing 👍

  7. The high voltage fuse you had replaced doesn’t necessarily mean it was bad. Apparently they are built to throw a code after a certain time period to force people to put new ones on. Probably preventive maintenance but still.

  8. Sam….save yourself some headache and service that sunroof immediately.

Anyone considering an older used Model S should know a few things. Drive units fail often. The design is flawed. They run coolant through the unit and the coolant seals go bad quite often. Coolant floods the units and they must be replaced. They released an updated drive unit that bypasses the coolant through the units in November 2023. It's about an $8k job, parts and labor, and it's WHEN not IF on the failure. The fuse Sam replaced is another known issue, and it's about time….nothing else. They must ALL be replaced around the 10 year mark. Parking brakes are another known issue. The early sunroofs are another known issue. If you pick one up and the roof is still working, service it IMMEDIATELY and then do it yearly.

I just sold my 2014 Model S last week and know them all too well! I sold my green with tan interior MS 60 with 130k miles on it for $17k. A working P90D for under $11k is indeed a steal.

  9. There are some screaming good deals on used EVs but it is really important to do a little homework if the sales price isn't in your "play money" budget. Every EV has at least one fan/owner's group, and their forum will tell you what kind of issues to look for when checking out a car. 8 years ago I bought my first EV, a 2011 Nissan LEAF with a weak battery. The seller let me take it to a dealer for a diagnostic test where I learned the battery was still under warranty. I bought the car for a song, had the battery replaced for free, and my cousin's kid now commutes in it every day having accumulated about 120,000 miles on it.
