Spirit Airlines put unaccompanied 6-year-old boy on wrong flight | LiveNOW from FOX

An airline mix-up caused a little boy to end up at the wrong airport, four hours away from his grandmother.

The 6-year-old, was flying as an unaccompanied minor with Spirit Airlines. He took off from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was supposed to land in Fort Myers, Florida. Instead, he ended up in Orlando, Florida.

The grandmother said Spirit Airlines offered to have a driver take Casper to Fort Myers. She declined and drove over three-and-a-half hours to pick him up. Spirit Airlines also issued a statement, apologizing to the family.

  1. In shared custody situations, and seeing extended family, people don't have the money to buy 3 tickets to visit family or their other parent in a custody situation. The airlines – Like a DAYCARE promise they will supervise and accompany the child from airport entrance to the plane seat. If you'd leave your 6 year old at day care, you can have a worker trained for it accompany them from airport to airport so they can be picked up by their mom, dad, or grandparent.

If a daycare lost your child, you'd blame the daycare or the worker, not the parents. Granted if it was Spirit daycare, I might blame the parents. I'm not leaving my kids on a spirit unaccompanied flight. You get what you pay for.

  2. Glad she made the video for others not to do the same thing. By reading the comments I don’t think they will be able to win a lawsuit of a jury of 12. Glad the grandmother went to get him. Don’t trust drivers either.

  3. This is the problem when nothing actually happens to the airlines! But that person that was fired actually was probably just doing what she was told to do! Both flight attendants crew from both flights should be suspended and the 2 of the gates!

  4. No one cares anymore. Wait, they didn't even fly the child to the correct destination for the error??? The same idiot that screws up your fast food order, are the same people working for the airlines, in the air traffic control tower, and flying the planes. Ground and air accidents will get worse. Long downward spiral of a corrupted society.

  5. Sends kid that can't even read on a solo flight with Spirit. Tries to blames Spirit in an attempt to get free money. Nice try but we see what you're doing. No one is stupid enough to send a 6 yearold to fly solo. The amount of stupid just doesnt exist in real life.

  6. These parents are irresponsible for making that child fly alone. 6 years old is too young to be traveling alone. Now blaming the airline for parents own incompetence.

  7. Ain’t no way that child was with a flight attendant like he’s supposed to had been. The attendant was supposed to get him from the gate. How did mom allow her son to get on the wrong flight. She supposed to stand there until the flight takes off. They’re supposed to scan his badge. Sound like a law suit. I would never put my child on spirit alone. I don’t even trust them with my luggage 😮‍💨 so glad that baby had his own phone.
