Biden speaks on Ukraine, Israel foreign aid, expected to sign bill: Watch live

President Biden will deliver remarks related to the aid package for Ukraine, Israel and other foreign priorities Wednesday morning. The president has said he will sign the legislation.

The quartet of bills is the result of months of negotiations between leaders of both parties, and an internecine fight within the GOP that has threatened to boot Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) from his post.

In addition to military aid to Ukraine and Israel, the package includes support for Taiwan and a new ultimatum to TikTok parent company ByteDance that it must divest itself of the popular social network.

  1. You don't understand this is how they get rich; Your money GoTo taxes GoTo war aid GoTo countryx GoTo military industrial comp GoTo kickbacks from lobbiers; USA owes 1.3T in interest on Natl' Debt, we make 1.2T a year, by signing this aide you've killed us all.

  2. This entire comment section doesn’t understand how the money in the aid package works, it doesn’t get shipped overseas, it gets spent domestically to create resources needed by other countries, which is what’s actually getting shipped.

And half the time that’s not even what’s happening, we’re sending old surpluses and using these contracts to buy updated/fresh replacements. This adds demand for labor in the US defense industry, which means more money moving around the economy at large as people sign onto contracts and get paid wages and salaries. Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan – they aren’t seeing a cent of this bill, we are, and in exchange we’re enabling the US government to send critical aid to its allies across the world. That’s what this bill does. It helps you, help the US government, help the world, and while I do have personal reservations on the nature of some of the things we are distributing to some of our nominal allies, I prefer this to watching for another half a year the US government do absolutely nothing about the crises impacting the international community.

  3. Biden Republicans Democrats are not telling you everything! The question needs to be asked, why is Russia’s frozen assets being given to Ukraine? That is a declaration of war! Why did the Republicans as well as the Dems vote on that in their meeting last Saturday?

  4. Are you kidding me sending more money to people who don't need nor deserve it wth it's time to stand up and tell these idiots that we don't wanna give them our money anymore. Stop the laundering of our tax dollars.

  5. Are we the only country in history that gives our treasure away for others wars??? A least this should be loans. All this money to bomb Gaza — regardless of what side you are on this will pay us back ten-fold in retaliation. This war president needs to go.
