@Copwatchtv obtained body camera footage of a bizarre way for a friend to try to get their friend out of a DWI arrest. A man was stopped by Eddy County Sheriff Deputies for drunk driving. He had a few of his friends in the car. A New Mexico State Police officer came to back up the deputy when one of the passengers claimed to be a Texas State Trooper.
The New Mexico State Police officer did not buy the man’s story and started to investigate the claims.

One of the dumbest ways I have seen someone volunteer themselves into an arrest…just start randomly yapping about being a Texas DPS Trooper while sitting in the back seat of a DWI investigation. Like, just shut up. Why would you start saying these things? During an investigation of a crime of which you were basically just a bystander to. So stupid.
I feel like there is something missing to this story, usually one has to do something to make the public believe one is an LEO for it to be impersonation. Just walking up to an officer and saying "I'm a cop" wouldn't think that would be trying to fake being a cop. Not smart at all, but illegal? Wonder how the charge holds in court.
