Fake Cop Busted at Friend’s DWI Arrest

@Copwatchtv obtained body camera footage of a bizarre way for a friend to try to get their friend out of a DWI arrest. A man was stopped by Eddy County Sheriff Deputies for drunk driving. He had a few of his friends in the car. A New Mexico State Police officer came to back up the deputy when one of the passengers claimed to be a Texas State Trooper.

The New Mexico State Police officer did not buy the man’s story and started to investigate the claims.

  1. For those who aren’t aware, the military puts your SSN on your dog tags for easy identification. Every person in the military should know their number by heart.

  2. The level of intelligence possesed to UNNECESSARILY create a bigger crime for yourself than what the driver was stopped for is mind boggling, too many stupid people out there

  3. One of the dumbest ways I have seen someone volunteer themselves into an arrest…just start randomly yapping about being a Texas DPS Trooper while sitting in the back seat of a DWI investigation. Like, just shut up. Why would you start saying these things? During an investigation of a crime of which you were basically just a bystander to. So stupid.

  4. I feel like there is something missing to this story, usually one has to do something to make the public believe one is an LEO for it to be impersonation. Just walking up to an officer and saying "I'm a cop" wouldn't think that would be trying to fake being a cop. Not smart at all, but illegal? Wonder how the charge holds in court.

  5. I don’t understand why guys do this. Seriously take the class or something but your no going to make it if you fake it

  6. I graduated high school 50 years ago and I still remember what year it was, and the names of all the teachers.

You don't go through an extensive and difficult training like a police academy and forget the class number.

  7. Pretending to be a cop is like pretending to be a manager at McDonald’s. No one is going to respect you for it🙄….. where’s the benefit??

  8. You don't serve 4 years in the military and NOT know your Social #. It literally goes on every form you fill out. Huge red flag.

  9. With all of the Jeremy DeWitte references in the comments: Who would play the notorious felon/registered offender/ cheating husband / STOLEN VALOR business owner that is JAY DEWITTE in the movie about his life❓❓❓

  10. Even if he says hes a cop he shouldnt be treated any differently. So why the fuck would they care. He wasnt impersonating he was lying to keep the cops from fucking with him cause it probably worked before!!. Most of these comments are stupid

  11. You have to have something seriously wrong to think you can go up to a real cop and claim to be one in the middle of their investigation. Like they're not going to verify that info.

  12. He who is not a member of the “GANG” can not falsely claim to be a member. The authorized Gangs have cages for that behavior.

  13. How do people not even know their #SSN?

With his lying…why even question this POS further.

Every officers needs to carry in their vehicles a machine to take a fingerprint of a person being questioned. These liars use different alias constantly along with different ID's because they are here illegally. That's why so many don't carry ID on their person.
