Its already illegal to infringe on a free press, to stop a story from going out directly violates someones first amendment rights. the problem is…whos gonna hold those accountable? At this point, the government is so big there's literally no one who can hold any of them accountable. From either side. And these are just the stories that we know about, imagine all the stories that dont make it out.

I personally hold two "competing" beliefs regarding investigative news and confidential sources specifically.
The first is that I fully support investigative reporting as a means of keeping our nations electorate well informed. There's a reason journalism is referred to as our "fourth estate", and full protection for confidentiality of sources is a necessity and should be honored.
The "competing" belief basically deals with how information from confidential sources are revealed and used.
When it pertains to accusatory claims that cannot be verified/confirmed/corroborated, it should be disclaimed to be as such and not presented as if actual fact. It should also be restricted from being used as any form of evidential material against a defendant in any legal case be it criminal and or civil, unless the source is willing to be unmasked and confronted on their claims.
Catherine got too close to the sun! Biden probably is implicated.
We need to realize that the administration in the White House is corrupt and are violating our rights. The Democrats are trying to control our country and push us into socialism.
I suppose in journalism the individual has a trade off, as in other biz, whether you work for a large news corp where you get wider distribution and perhaps more opportunity but where your work is not your own and autonomy isn’t a thing, or work for an independent or smaller news outlet with more ownership of your work but smaller scale and scope…
